Toshiba’s Video Communication Solution (VCS) is for the Strata CIX™ family of IP business communication systems and grants the user affordable access into the business video communication and collaboration world. Not only does it make video easy to use, it’s also compatible with the user’s existing Strata CIX system and telephone handsets. The VCS Windows XP Server software comes pre-installed on the Strata Media Application Server (MAS), easily extending the Strata voice user’s multimedia experience.

What Do I Need to Have to Get Toshiba’s Strata Video Communication Solution Working?
VCS Software and Compatibility
- VCS Server software comes pre-installed on the Toshiba Strata Media Application Server (MAS). Existing Strata CIX/MAS customers can install VCS server software on their MAS for free for a limited time. After the free trial period ends, VCS licenses need to be purchased.
- Each user needs Windows XP operating system on their computer to run the VCS client software. One client license is required for each VCS user.
Strata Media Application Server (MAS) Requirements
- Requires a memory upgrade to a minimum of 1GB of RAM
- Windows XP Pro Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2
- Internet Explorer version 6.00 or later
- IIS in Microsoft Add-on Components
- Available hard disk space of 120MB
Camera
- Users need a USB camera.
- Toshiba recommends Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000 or QuickCam for Notebooks Pro.
Strata CIX Requirement
- Release 3.1 and later
- Strata CIX system side license LIC-CIXR3.1-VCS is required for pre-R4.1 Strata CIX systems but free to R3.1 and 4.0 customers
- Multiple Strata CIX nodes networked via Strata Net. VCS supports a maximum of nine nodes, based upon 1GB of RAM.

- Use the Web-based VCSManager for VCS server information settings, Strata CIX information settings, End user information settings, , VCS license registration, Administrator information save log files to local disk or transfer log files using FTP, backup and restore system data, display operation status (user and server status, maximum of user licenses purchased, , version information and the number of active users logged on)
- Log file size maximum is 400MB in hard disk drive
- VCSManger can only manage one VCS server in the initial release 1.0
