Unify Communications With Cisco Unified CallConnector for Microsoft Office
An important member of the Cisco® Unified Communications family of products, Cisco Unified CallConnector for Microsoft Office is a desktop solution supported by Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express 4.0 and higher that uses toolbars within common applications such as Microsoft Outlook and Internet Explorer.
Cisco Unified CallConnector for Microsoft Office, specifically designed for small and medium-sized businesses and branch offices, is easy to use and can improve productivity greatly for its users. The product offers a new way to communicate with customers and vendors or within the business.
The CallConnector includes presense (availability status of a current user), is embedded within business applications like Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office and offers the following features:
- A toolbar within Internet Explorer and Microsoft Outlook for dialing numbers, setting user availability, controlling the call, and checking location status
- Shows all user contacts (corporate, personal, and Outlook) for Quick Dialing or for writing a new instant message or e-mail to the contact
- Offers a feature called Quick Search that displays all contact numbers plus location and availability of fellow employees in order to find a contact quickly--all without leaving your current application
- Includes Quick Message, an instant messaging client for communication with fellow employees
- Provides an inbound call screen pop-up with Outlook contact names and clickable options to take the call, send to voicemail, or write a Quick Message to
- Offers Quick Presence to display location, availability, and notes for contacts in search results and directories
- Highlight a number and select Quick Dial from any application, including Web pages

Features of Cisco Unified CallConnector Personal
- Call control toolbars within Internet Explorer and Microsoft Outlook with the ability to implement phone features, find contacts, and streamline user communications.
- Cisco Unified CallConnector Contacts combines all corporate, personal, Outlook contacts within Internet Explorer and Outlook.
- Quick Dial involves using click-to-dial or click-to-send on any contact with the option to show all numbers (home, work, and cell) and to send addresses (e-mail, Short Message Service [SMS] and instant message [IM]) associated with the contact.
- Quick Transfer, Hold, or Conference allows you to access context menus within Explorer or Outlook to use these features.
- Use the Pause or Break keys on your PC to find a contact quickly. Send an e-mail or dial a number or without having to open new applications or switch pages.
- Use icon-based speed dialing for frequently called numbers.
- Incoming calls will pop-up on the screen with the caller's name. Clickable option to answer the call or send it to voicemail.
- Use Quick Dial by highlighting a phone number in any application like email, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or a Webpage and double-clicking the phone icon to place a call
- Missed, received, and dialed calls are stored on your PC as well as on your IP phone. Use Quick Dial to return calls missed while out of the office.
The Cisco Unified CallConnector Server application delivers the features described previously with the added benefit of instant messaging and giving information on user presence.
Features of Cisco Unified CallConnector Server
- Offers a real-time display of a user's availability, location and IP phone status, along with an optional custom message.
- Users can show their location by icon (home, work, travel, or vacation), or create a custom message to be displayed to other users, allowing other users (including the operator) to see who is in the office, out to lunch, or away on travel.
- Users can show their availability status by color: Available, Busy, Away, or Other.
- Connect the phone to the Cisco Unified CallManager Express system and have your status automatically updated for others to see in order to reduce missed phone calls and increase efficiency.
- Cisco Unified CallConnector Contacts Quick Dial launches simple instant messaging for the office and includes an option to launch other instant messaging clients installed on the PC.
- Your availability status is automatically updated based on your Outlook calendar. Automatically tracks your schedule, reducing the need to update availability manually.
- The Quick Search Results bar shows the contact numbers, availability, location, and phone status of colleagues. Know whether the person you’re calling is available before you call.
- Set rules for automation of basic call handling. Get notification though e-mail or SMS when calls are received and send notification to a pager or cell phone while away from the office.
- Ability to change the presence information shown to others.
- Easy installation includes a clickable link through email. Costs are reduced as users can install the solution themselves.
